Rankin for Judge

420th District Court

Nacogdoches County, Texas

A Judge to make the 420th a Fully Functional Court

David C. Rankin is running as the democratic candidate for the 420th Judicial District Court of Texas against the incumbent Judge, Ed Klein, who was not elected, but was appointed as Judge by Gov. Rick Perry when the court was first created in 2004. Klein's experience prior to that was being appointed as a district attorney shortly after law school. With the limited legal experience of the current judge, the court only hears a small fraction of the cases currently on the docket in Nacogdoches County. Under Judge Klein, cases in the 420th are limited to criminal and family law matters.

This is unfair to the people of Nacogdoches and places the entire burden of hearing all other cases, including additional criminal and family law cases, on the 145th Judicial District Court. Hearing only two types of cases denies the people of Nacogdoches and all others that have legal matters pending in the County, the fully functional second court they should enjoy and that they are now paying for. The court needs a new judge that has a broad base of legal experience in order for the court to operate as a fully functional District Court so that the people of Nacogdoches and all others receive the full benefit and value that the 420th was created to provide.

David Rankin can bring the needed experience to the 420th District Court and provide the people of Nacogdoches with a fully functional Court that isn't limited to hearing just criminal and family matters. David Rankin has litigated all types of lawsuits in both state and federal courts all over the state and nation from Dallas to Jackson, Mississippi to Modesto, California to Minneappolis, Minnesota, to Athens, Ohio to Atlanta, Georgia and back again. Cases that involved oil and gas disputes, defective children's products, abuse of the elderly in nursing homes, cases by and against corporations and executives for their misdealings and a multitude of other cases from helping families with adoptions and divorces to cases involving libel and slander and property disputes.

In order to bring a fully functional second court to the people of Nacogdoches, David Rankin needs your help and your support. Your help is needed to make sure that all of the people in the county are aware of the situation and limited function of the current court. You help is needed to make sure that everyone who is entitled to vote is registered to vote. Most of all, your support is needed to make sure that a fair campaign can be run, that signs can be made, that banners can be made all to help get the word out to the people so that each can exercise an informed vote for judge of the 420th this November. Any donation you can make is needed, no matter how small, it will all help bring Nacogdoches and the State of Texas the court they deserve. Donations can be sent to the campaign treasurer below:
